When Design Speaks: Inside Mediator’s New Office in the Heart of BudaPart
An office truly excels when it’s not just aesthetically appealing, but also enhances the way people work within it. A place that fuels creativity while boosting productivity. Mediator’s new headquarters delivers exactly that — over 1,000 m² of distinctive, functional, and playfully sophisticated workspace inside the BudaPart DOWNTOWN building, located in one of Budapest’s most rapidly developing districts.
From Zero to Bold — with Total Creative Freedom
As the first tenant of the LEED Gold-certified, energy-efficient BudaPart DOWNTOWN building, the Mediator advertising agency had the rare opportunity to shape a completely blank canvas. The result? A tailor-made office spanning more than 1,000 m², complemented by a 900 m² green rooftop terrace — designed entirely around their unique needs and brand vision.
Westwood Group supported the process with a full-scope design & build service — from early-stage concepting to final handover. In close collaboration with interior design studio PONT co.lab (Niki Oláh and Anita Felhő), the interior concept came to life through custom-designed FF&E elements, carefully sourced furnishings, and bespoke material finishes from trusted manufacturing partners.
A Space That Tells the Brand’s Story
One of the core ambitions of the project was to bring Mediator’s brand identity into physical form — not just through graphics or digital elements, but embedded into the very fabric of the office space. An evolution of the “Köztér” (Commons) concept from their previous office — which functioned as both event hub and after-hours gathering space — this new iteration became a flexible, modular oasis that can transform into a dining hall, yoga studio, or even a stage.
People-First Design with Purpose
Built on the philosophy of minimalist elegance and high-performance functionality, every square meter of the new space was driven by intentional design. Extensive research, continuous dialogue with teams, and cross-department input ensured that each zone reflected the agency’s real workflows — from project management to creative and digital workstreams.
The hybrid work model, clean desk policy, and a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration required rethinking the spatial dynamics. The design rose to meet that challenge, translating strategic needs into physical form.
Smart meeting rooms, touch-screen booking systems, pet-friendly policies, and of course, the lush green terrace — all of these features not only made the office more functional, but genuinely loved by the people who use it every day.
Design & Build — Not Just Execution, But Experience
Westwood’s role extended far beyond traditional implementation. We were involved in shaping the vision, refining material selections, designing custom furniture, and orchestrating the complete spatial experience. Every detail plays into a larger story — one of long-term support for Mediator’s momentum, creativity, and deeply collaborative culture.
What Makes a Creative Office Truly Great?
Mediator’s new HQ proves that great spaces don’t just represent — they reflect. They reflect the people who inhabit them, the workflows they support, the brand they represent, and the future they’re collectively building.
